Goodbye
Paddy's Notes
This song explores the experience of a person who has been trapped in a relationship. As time passes, this person finally gathers the necessary courage to walk away when in the past they couldn't do so. The relationship has obviously been abusive and over-bearing, but not necessarily in a physical way only.
The main character is also acknowledging their own wrong-doing by being in this relationship. Later in the song, the person wants to encourage people who might be going through what they had gone through, whilst reminding them that there is plenty of opportunity out there and that life is just one big journey.

Lyrics
You knew I was wrong
But you did it anyway
You said I would live to love
Another day
In my darkest hour
I see your smiling face
I knew you weren't good for me
When I first came to this place
Yours was a love that meant so much
But it pushed me 'round and beat me up
Until I found myself upon the floor
But I am strong and I'll go on
You exist only in this song
Watch me walking out the door
Saying Goodbye, Goodbye, Goodbye
I knew it was wrong
But I did it anyway
I passed the point of no return
Somewhere along the way
In my darkest hour
I see a silhouette
It has the eyes that had seduced me
It has a face I won't forget
Yours was a love that meant so much
But it pushed me 'round and beat me up
Until I found myself upon the floor
But I am strong and I'll go on
You exist only in this song
Did you really think
I'd be coming back for more
So Goodbye, Goodbye to you,
Goodbye to me
To all you feeling down
Take heart my friends
Because the world keeps turning round
And it will pick you up again
In your darkest hour
When you can't get off the floor
Remember, God may have closed a window
But He will open up a door
So forget that love that meant so much
That pushed you around and beat you up
Remember that this life is like a song
There's a constant search for harmony
For the chords of life and its melody
So get up off the floor and sing my song
Sing Goodbye, Sing Goodbye, Sing
Goodbye Sing Goodbye, Sing Goodbye
To you, Goodbye to me. And so be free.
