Paddy & Bill Gigs - Wilmington, Sat April 1st

Posted by PaddyG

Hello boys and girls.......

We're playing this Saturday (April 1st) in Wilmington at Hell's Kitchen.

The whole shenanigans surrounding St. Pat's Day is finally subsiding. Thanks to all of you who came along to see us play over our very own Irish holiday. It was an amazing time as usual. Our livers are in hospital right now. Charleston last weekend was it's usual wild time. Brenda and Sapna kicked my arse on the golf course and, Colleen took me to some of Charleston's most unusual bars. Thanks for the hospitality. Charleston is one of our favorite places to play.

I'm just home from a Coaches gig.......tonight we'll be in Wheeler's as usual. Hope to see you guys along the road. Thanks for the support. Stay safe and be well. Drink lots of guinness. http://paddygibney.com/

All the best,
PG

St Patrick’s Day 2006 - It’s Over…..Until Next Year!!

Posted by LauraH

Well, it's all over and I think, but am not too sure, that I am still alive. Come to think of it I am definitely alive; I would not be so tired and hurt all over if I were dead, now would I?

Paddy & Bill did five gigs during the St Patrick's Day (week!) festivities. They started off at Willie's at Ft Bragg and ended up at the Mash House in Fayetteville. I am very, very glad that I do not have to pick the best of the five!

Each venue was different and even though P&B did lots of the songs over and over again the atmosphere was different so it resulted in a sort of different 'sound' each time. It does seem that the most favorite 'Irish' tune is "Drunken Lullabies". That brings the house down every time and it is very easy to see why. Paddy & Bill do this as well, or better, than anyone else out there. There were lots of the Irish traditionals intermixed with quite a few covers. Of course St Patrick's festivities call for songs by Ireland's premier band, U2. There again Paddy & Bill reign supreme.

I cannot remember everything they did (I do not have time to take notes!!!) but I do remember: Sunday Bloody Sunday, One, With Or Without You, Summer of 69, Bittersweet Symphony, Take On Me, Ordinary World, What's Going On, Clocks, Gin and Juice, Devil Went Down To Georgia, American Girl, La Bamba, and many more. (Sure wish they had a setlist!!) Of course the crowd always more or less demanded Alice, The Friendly Little Cat, Supercalifragilistic, Roll Your Leg Over, F… You I'm Drunk, Barnacle Bill, and all the other dirty little ditties!!! And why not, since Paddy is the best in the world with the old pub songs.

During all these gigs I got over 4,000 shots and, miracle of all miracles, almost all of them turned out very good. Of course it would have been nice if there had been more freedom of movement to insure getting shots of everyone present, but we know that will never happen on St Patrick's Day. I just hope everyone can look at the shots for some time to come and remember all the fun we had during all the mayhem of St Patrick's Day 2006.

St Patrick’s Day 2006 - 3 Down - 1 To Go

Posted by LauraH

I survived the madness and mayhem of Paddy & Bill's first three gigs for St Patrick's Day 2006, which means I only have to get through tonight before having a week off!!!! Wish me luck.

Our first gig on Friday was at 6pm in Wiley's Grill & Bar inside the Holiday Inn Bordeaux. It started off rather slow but built up to a nice crowd later on. Unfortunately the Irish crowd (see photo at left) did not arrive until the last half hour of the show. Too bad because they were a riot!!!! We had a few familiar faces but most were new. The great thing is that after hearing some of the music they stayed on for the show. I spoke to quite a few of the people who had never heard Paddy & Bill and their comments were all awesome. Great thing to happen on St Patrick's Day. Thanks to Mike, Johnnie, and all the staff of Wiley's.

After leaving Wiley's I went for a quick dinner and then to my house to download the 500+ shots and to recharge the battery. (I wanted to make sure I had a spare battery for the next gig!!) Then it was on to Wheeler's. (See photo above) That was an altogether different scene from Wiley's. We had already been told that by 5pm Wheeler's was filling up and that there was a line running out into the parking lot for the show to begin at around 11pm. Unreal!!! When I arrived there was still a line out into the parking lot but the bouncer took me by the hand and got me through the crowd to the opposite end of the building where Paddy & Bill would be playing. I ended up standing right next to Paddy with just elbow room. Talk about a mob scene!!! The place really went wild when Paddy sang the Irish National Anthem (A Soldier's Song) and then went straight into the US National Anthem. Thanks to a wonderful young woman I was able to get out of my confining space and in front of Paddy & Bill for that.

Even though I managed to get almost 500 shots I am afraid they will not be very good. Most are definitely limited to the front section of the bar. However, you can bet there will be a few for the exclusives. Everything came out.....and I do mean everything!!!! Link to both Wiley's & Wheeler's photos.

I was really happy to hear Paddy say that they were going on break. I had decided to make my way through the bar, get some more shots, and then out the door to my car and HOME!!! I got halfway through the bar and could move no more. So, I turned around, made my way to the emergency exit, and the bouncer got me out. Thanks to Phil and his crew for looking out for us.

Catch you next time.

St Patrick’s Day 2006 - The Madness Begins

Posted by LauraH

The madness began tonight at Coaches on Bragg Boulevard. The place was packed...the regulars were all out, the jiggers were out, and, oh yes, the boobies were out. We added to "Our Booby Collection" tonight!!! I was working with a new camera and missed my first opportunity, but you can bet that I did not miss on the next chance! Not one, not two, but three great shots. Of course only one of them will get on the site.

All the photos are online and you can see them here. Well that is the regular gig photos; the others are in the exclusives for Fan Club members only.

Time for me to hit the hay. I have a big day ahead tomorrow - first Wiley's at 6pm and then Wheeler's at 10pm. Need all the rest I can get before then. Oh yeah, Paddy & Bill were great; but then they always are, so nothing new there. However, I do think they are sounding much better lately. Do you think maybe they are secretly rehearsing? That would definitely be something new.

Catch you next time.

Paddy & Bill Gigs - St. Pat’s Day 2006

Posted by PaddyG

Boys and Girls,

Well well, here we are again, a few hours away from the day when even black men are Irish (although all Irish men are black anyway).....Happy St. Patrick's Day to you all. I was in Jamaica last week hanging with my brothers and resting before our own version of March madness begins and it begins tonight at Coaches, our regular Thursday haunt.

Tomorrow, St. Pat's Day, Bill and I will be visiting several schools during the day to warn kids of the dangers of not drinking Guinness. We do the school thing every year. The children are always enlightening..... and honest, "you guys stink"....good way to keep our feet on the ground.

From 6pm to 8pm we'll be playing a few tunes in Wiley's (formerly Bowties) in The Holiday Inn Bordeaux. If nothing else, it's a chance to come by and say hello for those folks who would prefer to avoid the mayhem at Wheeler's where we will be playing later the same night.......no cover charge at the Holiday Inn by the way.

Saturday night we'll be playing at The Mash House. We haven't been there in a while. Great home brewed beer and a different feel from most places we play. It's usually a little more civilized also, until we arrive of course. Anyway, it should be more comfortable for people who can't come to Wheeler's on St. Paddy's Day itself. No cover. We start around 10pm......

Sunday......sleep all day with my blow up doll.

By the way, this Tuesday (March 21st) we will NOT be at Huske Hardware House. We have a private show in Chapel Hill that evening. Also, we'll be back in Charleston at Tommy Condon's NEXT Friday and Saturday (March 24 and 25). We'll be at Coaches on Thursday March 23rd as usual.......

That's it lads and lassies. Sorry for the long email. I'm tired just thinking about the schedule and you are bored reading about it I'm sure. It's not a bad life though. Thanks for making ours richer and more enjoyable. Take care of yourselves out there in the world. We'll see you along the road.

All the best,
Paddy

PS Keep your panties GREEN and put your best foot forward

PPS God Bless our boys and girls in Uniform around the world.....and THANK YOU

St Paddy’s Day Festivities

Posted by LauraH

WOW!! It is only midway the St Paddy's festivities and I am exhausted. We still have four more gigs to go this week. Unreal!

This past Friday at Willie's in the Fort Bragg Officers' Club was a real blast. There was a rather large turnout and everyone was in a festive mood. Lots of the regulars, to include our GREAT jiggers, dropped in. Willie's has a rather large dance floor so we had quite a few jiggers on the floor all at once. It was great to see all the movements that are more or less impossible in most of the other venues. Paddy & Bill never sounded better and the crowd was very receptive. I got around 1200 shots and have narrowed them down to about 200 to add to the site. The routine stuff is already online but the exclusive shots are still waiting. Maybe in a couple of days.

Wheeler's started off with a bang but, as luck would have it, my camera died within a half hour. So here I am during a very hectic, and special, time period having to learn how to use a new camera!!! I tried it out last night and think that, with luck, I will be able to get through the festivities without losing all my hair!!

Let me see if I can keep up with myself now.

Thursday night we will be at Coaches on Bragg Boulevard

Friday we will be at Wiley's in Holiday Inn Bordeaux from 6-8pm

Wheeler's from 11pm-2am.

We will close out the week of festivities on Saturday night at Mash House around 10:30pm-2am.

Makes me tired just thinking about it!! Good thing I have next week off; I will definitely need it. Back to bed for me. I still have five hours until time for me to be up and about.

Catch you next time.

New Venue Added To St Paddy’s Day Lineup

Paddy & Bill will be performing at the St Patrick's Day festivities at Wiley's Grille & Bar on Friday, March 17th, from 6-8pm. Wiley's is located inside Holiday Inn Bordeaux at the Boone Trail entrance.

This event is free - NO COVER!!!

The Holiday Inn Bordeaux is located at 1707 Owen Drive, Fayetteville, North Carolina - Tel: (910)323-0111. There will be more info on the website as it becomes available.

Charleston, South Carolina - March 24th and 25th

Posted by LauraH

Paddy Gibney and Bill Ayerbe will be in Charleston, South Carolina this coming Friday, March 24th, and Saturday, March 25th. They will be performing at Tommy Condon's Irish Pub located at 160 Church Street, which is in the historic area near the Market. Check our website for more information and/or any changes to the schedule. Check out Tommy Condon's website for more info to include menus, maps, etc.

Come on out to Tommy Condon's for two nights of Irish pub music at its best. Paddy is a Dublin native and no one can do the Irish traditionals as well as he does them. There will be lots of covers too - U2, Cold Play, The Cure, etc - mixed in too. One of the most popular tunes right now is "Drunken Lullabies". Bill's version of "The Devil Went Down To Georgia" brings the house down every time, as does "Gin and Juice".

Paddy & Bill have a very extensive setlist, but do not ask to see that. It's in their heads!!!!!! There are hundreds of songs to choose from so let them know your favorite and they just may do it for you!!

NOTE: Both photos with this post were from previous performances at Tommy Condon's.

Paddy & Bill Gigs - Vacation and The Officers' Club

Posted by PaddyG

Hello boys and girls,

It's early Monday morning. Bill and myself are off for a liver transplant over the next few days in preparation for the St. Pat's Day festivities. We haven't had a break in a while and, with our job being so demanding and containing life and death decisions every show, we decided a few days off might be in order. We will, therefore, not be at Huske this Tuesday nor at Coaches this Thursday. We will, however, be back for Friday........March 10th.......a busy day indeed.

We will be playing in The Officers' Club on Fort Bragg from 6pm to 9pm. This is a free show open to the public. I have been assured that lame ass wankers no longer hang out at this place, MP's will NOT be waiting in the parking lot for you as you leave on one ear and, we have full reign to talk gigantic shite throughout the evening. Seriously, we could do with a little support for this particular event. I have my doubts about the suitability of this environment when it comes to our particular brand of entertainment but, the staff have been a pleasure to work with so far and we want it to work out for them with an eye to a more regular gig at this venue in the future. We'll see. I'm talking huge shite either way.......especially after all the flak I have received from people who have heard my voice on the radio advertisement for this event......I know I sound silly but I had just got out of bed....Bill is working on his Irish accent so as to take over all such duties in the future.

We will of course be at Wheeler's later on that Friday......11pm 'til whenever we fall down........Saturday, March 11th we'll be back in RALEIGH at TIR NA NOG.......always brilliant fun there.......

The following week is somewhat normal except for the fact that it's St. Pat's Day on Friday......we'll be playing Wheeler's that night, just like a regular night, although it will be far from that I'm sure. Huske on Tuesday (March 14th) and Coaches on Thursday remain the same.......Saturday, March 18th will see us return to The Mash House here in Fayetteville. Every time we've played at this venue I have been pleasantly surprised. Good place to nurse the Pat's Day hangover......we'll sing gospel songs mostly.....

That's it mes amies......sorry for the length of this email message......but Irish men tend to be long........................................................) Take care of yourselves and thanks for all the support. I'd be a porn star if it wasn't for the great audiences we have each gig.....Thanks especially to all our military boys and girls. We are honored to be in your lives. Thanks so much for protecting ours. We'll see you along the road.

All the best,
Paddy

PS Keep your panties clean and put your best foot forward........

Vacation Time - Then St Paddy’s Kickoff - FBOC on March 10, 2006

Posted by LauraH

Paddy and Bill are on vacation this week. They will return on Friday, March 10, for the kick-off of St Paddy's Day at the Ft Bragg Officers' Club.

If you are coming into town for the special gig at Ft Bragg why not stay over for the gig at Wheeler's which begins around 10:30pm. Wheeler's is a straight shot down the All-American expressway. You can find maps and more info at:

Venues ....... Maps ...... Area Info

Paddy and Bill at Wheeler's, March 3, 006

Paddy & Bill will be at Tir Na Nog in Raleigh, North Carolina on Saturday, March 11. Seems they are taking a vacation at a very good time because it looks like things are going to be rather hectic for the next few weeks.

Check out the website for latest developments and for upcoming shows, photos of past shows, or anything else you want to know about these guys!! You can also buy their CDs online via their site too. If you've never heard them you can listen to them on the Music Pages of the site.

Hope to see you down the road.

Coaches, March 2, 2006

Posted by LauraH

Wow!! The place was jam-packed - wall-to-wall people. I have not had so many hugs and kisses in a while. Everyone was very nice and helped me get up front with my guys. They play at the opposite end of the building from the front door!! Just take a look at the photo above.

Everyone was in a festive mood which is pretty near always the case at Coaches. I had not heard my guys in over a week and it sort of seemed to me that they had improved a lot during that period. I know - absence makes the heart grow fonder!! Guess it makes the music sound better too. They did one of my favorites for the first time in a long time - "Crazy Love". They really do a great job with that one.

I got lots of pretty good shots which is not an easy thing to do when it is so crowded. Sure hope Paddy's special pose turns out good!!!!!! Guarantee you that one will not be on the regular gig slideshow. Must not forget the guy in the kilt either. That always guarantees at least one butt shot.....and you know what they wear beneath those kilts. No frontal shots this time, though. Darn!!

Hope to have all the photos on line some time tomorrow. They will be located on the Coaches Slideshows at Photo/Slideshows so why not mosey on over and take a peek.

Catch you next time.

Get Irish With Paddy & Bill at Willie’s in the Fort Bragg O’Club

Posted by LauraH

Just one more week before all the St Paddy's Day madness begins. The kickoff for Paddy & Bill is Friday, March 10, from 6-9PM at Willie's Sports Bar which is located in the Ft Bragg Officers' Club at the corner of Armistead and Totten Streets in Building 1-4930. Membership in the club is NOT required for this event and there is NO COVER.

The theme for Willie's is "Get Irish with Paddy & Bill". Rock 103's Linda Wylde will also be there. There are all kinds of things on the agenda for the evening. Don't think you will want to miss the "Black & Tan" pouring contest along with the dollar draft. The Irish Jig contest should be a real hoot, especially as fast as Bill gets to playing that violin. He can really do the jigs like no other. I will also be there with the camera ready to capture all the neat things everyone does. Bet I get some doozies!!!! Here are a couple from last year at Coaches:

I have put maps on the website (Click Here). Access to Fort Bragg is controlled so you will have to go through a checkpoint. Be sure you do not still have your guns from the last hunting trip in your car!! That may be a problem; otherwise it is very easy to get on post. Just show your ID and the guards will keep you moving. This is a good place to get directions for those last few blocks if you are having a problem with my maps - well, with MapQuest maps.
